Sergei Pavlovich was upset inside the Octagon after losing to Alexander Volkov on Saturday, and his opponent was getting his hair combed between rounds.

MMA veteran Alexander Volkov was getting his hair combed between rounds during the co-main event of UFC Fight Night in Saudi Arabia, before going on to beat Sergei Pavlovich. Volkov won via decision against knockout artist Pavlovich, but fans were stunned to see his trainers prioritize how his hair looked throughout the fight.

In both short intervals between the three rounds, Volkov's hair was being combed while listening to advice from his trainers.

It paid off as Volkov dominated the fight and doubled Pavlovich's total when it came to total strikes and significant hits, but fans couldn't get over what they'd seen before the 15-minute bout was over. "This is called 'The Corner man special' - facial and a haircut," one fan joked on social media.

"Is he actually getting his hair combed during the fight?" Another added. "Getting your hair combed between rounds is huge main character vibes," one fan said. After the fight though, there was a different talking point.

It was Pavlovich's first-ever loss via a decision, as most of his fights don't go the full distance. Of Pavlovich's 18 wins in MMA, 15 of those have come via knockout, as the Russian is known for his striking abilities.

Recently the UFC has unveiled a new glove design that is meant to benefit both fighters inside the Octagon. Not only is the new glove meant to reduce the number of facial lacerations and illegal glove grabs, but it's intended to protect the fighters using them and cut down on minor fractures sustained in the hand.

The new gloves debuted at UFC 302 on June 1 but some fans believe that they restrict power, something that Pavlovich struggled to find against Volkov. "A Sergei Pavlovich fight just went the distance. These new UFC gloves are cooked," one fan wrote on X.

Another posted: "Nice to see the Pavlovich era is over. The UFC ruined this whole promotion with these gloves lmao." But UFC president Dana White thinks otherwise, and even claimed that it would be a 'game-changer' for the company.

"We have been working on these gloves over the past few years with the best designers, engineers, and athletes in the world," UFC CEO Dana White said in a statement. "This redesign will truly be a game changer for the entire sport of MMA. These gloves will feel lighter, fit fighters' hands better, prevent injuries, and provide maximum flexibility during the fights.

"You'll start to see these in the competition this summer." Like with any major changes, it will take some getting used to, and theories speculated by fans will become clear once more major events take place in the UFC.
