ANDY BEHRENS: Welcome to week 5, good people. I am Andy Behrens. I'm joined by the great Matt Harmon. And we are going to help you get ready for game day by taking a look at the latest transaction trends in Yahoo leagues. You can just go to the research tab in your league, then transaction trends. You can follow along with us. We'll look at the most added players here. Matt, just give us a name that jumps out to you.
MATT HARMON: Well, Rashee Rice sticks out to me. And look, I totally get it. I talked about Rashee Rice a little bit this weekend, and I got a lot of responses where this is like Lucy with the football, right? Chiefs receiver. We keep trying to-- I think somebody very clever sent me a GIF of somebody stepping on multiple rakes over and over again, trying to find a Chiefs receiver to break out in the post-Tyreek Hill era.
I understand it, Andy. But it's very similar to when people, back when you started playing fantasy 100 years ago, were like, well, you can't take a Patriots back. You can't do that because it just never works out, right? Well, we got to keep trying because it is a really good offense and it is a really good quarterback here that these receivers are playing with.
So Rashee Rice, rookie receiver, I actually think could be sort of critical in this matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. Because Brian Flores is just blitzing his tail off there with the Minnesota Vikings. They lead the NFL in blitz rate, 50% of the dropbacks, which is-- again, it leads the NFL by a lot. Nobody else is north of 50%. And they've used Rashee Rice on these just quick, in-breaking routes and get him yards after the catch.
So I think he could be a rather critical player here if you need-- I'm not saying he's a must-start guy or anything more than just a nice wide receiver three candidate this week. But if you need somebody to throw in there, you're hurting on by weeks or injuries or anything like that, again, I think he could be kind of critical to that blitz-beating package.
And there's very few quarterbacks I trust against the blitz more than Patrick Mahomes. So we'll see what Rashee Rice develops into long term. I think he still has some developing, some seasoning he needs at the NFL level. But I've been encouraged with the YAC usage so far with him.
ANDY BEHRENS: Yeah, let's blitz the heck out of Patrick Mahomes and see how that goes. I'm looking forward to it. I certainly hope that happens. Rice, also, seeing close to a 50% snap share over the last two weeks. So he's seeing the field a lot more.
I'll just mention Matt Breida, who is once again near the top of the most-added list. Saquon Barkley, obviously, still troubled by the ankle injury. We think he's going to come back pretty soon because he did return to practice this week. So probably, hopefully, this is the last time we'll need to deploy Matt Breida. He did gain 78 total yards last week. He had a touchdown the week before in a difficult matchup.
He's also played three quarters of the snaps, right, in these past two games. So he's the guy who is the clear replacement. He gets Miami this week. They only rank 21st against the run on the season, so it's not really the worst spot. Breida probably deserves a spot in any 12-team league this week in an active lineup, especially with four teams on bye.
I also just want to mention that I'm seeing Chase Claypool's name among the most added, and that is just wild to me. That is a-- I don't know why you would run to that particular mistake, but people are doing it.
MATT HARMON: Good luck to you. Good luck to you out there. Your fantasy team is in a real bad spot if you're looking at the waiver wire like, well, Chase Claypool. No work ethic, but really-- Miami offense. He's fast. Yeah, good luck to you if you're making the Chase Claypool add.
ANDY BEHRENS: Yeah, exactly. Those are the pregame transactions that are being made by the people. Do what you got to do to go get a win this week.
