  • ChloeLorde traveled back in time to the Eileanar enclave. She visited the Netheril Mint to collect some of the city's pyramidal currency, learned of its magical anti-counterfeiting prismatic effects from Elgiva and Evemerus, and passed Debac's security measures. Next, she visited Gallery Steamers to purchase a flying ship from Stuckley for a ready escape from the Fall of Netheril. (Spoiler: everyone died.)
  • SunderedShor became tongue-tied as he documented the different non-human languages, from Pixie, Dryadic, and Treantish to K'azz'jak'n (the language of neogi) and more, and even got to the bottom of the Alignment languages. (Are they made up entirely of political dog whistles?)
  • ItalianKarsus got entangled in intrigues in Suzail, running into such colorful characters as the ruthless dual-wand-wielding War Wizard Kelgantor, the rowdy nobleman Kathkote Dawntard, the club owner known only as Tress, and even the pet stirge known as Thirsty. (Maybe it's an emotional support stirge.)
  • We say well met to DM of Dragons, who stopped by Inn Plain Sight, and XStelliferous, who paid a discreet visit to Mother Salinka's House of Pleasure. We also welcome ContactOfSolitude, who rode in on a Demon Grinder from Fort Knucklebone and then wrote of Ladies Khara Sulwood and Mareldraea Hawkguard, two wise rulers of Shadowdale.
  • Meanwhile, Tomlesss delved into the dark history of House Thorm; Weisguar followed the Wind Walk through the Sunset Mountains; EngineerDali collected guano at Gull Rocks in the Sea of Swords; and Zeromaru X returned to Akanûl to visit New Breen, Deepspur, and Lake Akax.

In Juniper's Companion to Venturesome Cookery, halfling wizard Juniper Churlgo (brought to life by Artyom.pavlov) cooks up minty wine sausages from Tethyr.
  • In our Legacy of the Green Regent campaign, our heroes seek a sage for advice on what they have and what to do next. They chose the crotchety professor with lots of cats. Can she tell them anything they don't already know?
  • And introducing Personal Demon by BadCatMan, a novella-length tale of possession, despair, struggle, and hope at the Yawning Portal, with three chapters up already. It's dark fantasy with depth and soul.
  • Now, braeunk vhos trolkh, as hobgoblins say farewell ("if you die while I'm gone, do it quietly," so poetic).

The Heralds of Faerûn, or simply the Heralds, were a quasi-independent group of historians and heraldists that took on the responsibility of recording, preserving, and policing the coats of arms, flags, standards, shields, badges, mottoes, symbols, and sigils of armigerous individuals, families, houses, kingdoms, cities, organizations, and mercantile and mercenary companies across most of Faerûn.

Founded in the Year of the Watching Helm, 992 DR, as part of the Harpers, it eventually became difficult for the Heralds to maintain their neutrality and uphold their reputation for impartiality, so they split from the Harpers in the Year of the Empty Scabbard, 1116 DR. The Heralds policed themselves rigorously, removing members who abused their position of power, even reluctantly resorting to assassination in the most egregious cases of corruption. As a result, the Heralds' influence and recognition spread to cover almost every corner of Faerûn west of Thay.

The organization was led by a small council known as the High Heralds, and their apprentices and assistants were called the Heralds Pursuivant. Below these were the many local Heralds in almost every town of adequate size, and the "court heralds" that performed diplomatic services for their sovereign while trying to uphold the ideals of the Heralds. Together they formed a vast information gathering network that was frustratingly difficult to thwart.

  • 10-foot poles were a staple dungeon-delving tool favored by many adventurers. They were used for practical tasks such as jamming doors open, remotely triggering traps, or as improvised ladders. Especially inventive (or cautious) adventurers could even attach two poles together to boost their survival chances further.
  • Jack wyvern tail was a Cormyrean dish designed to imitate the taste and texture of the meat from a wyvern's tail. Essentially a blend of chopped turkey, pork, and rabbit, it had to be prepared carefully to mimic the succulence of true wyvern meat, though according to epicureans it was far from a perfect substitute.
  • Muffins were popular across the Realms, sometimes served alongside a cup of tea or served for morningfeast with a side of fruit. Occasionally, muffins were used to smuggle secret messages or items hidden within.
  • Death lances were drow melee weapons that released a powerful force of negative energy whenever they struck true. The weapon master Berg'inyon Baenre was known to favor the use of a death lance while mounted on a riding lizard.
  • Xonathanur was an ancient shield dwarven kingdom in the Underdark beneath northern Faerûn. Though once considered an example to the "less civilized" races in how to hold and wield power, Xonathanur eventually buckled from a seemingly endless succession of goblin wars.
  • The Castle of the Lady was the abode of Dasumia, an accomplished wizardess. As befitting its mistress, it was exceptionally well warded against hostile magics. Elminster himself studied here, under Dasumia's tutelage, while preparing to defeat the rogue Chosen of Mystra Nadrathen.
  • Thorn Island in the Bay of Phlan was surrounded by a ring of treacherous rocks that kept larger ships from approaching Sokol Keep and its lighthouse, though patient sailors could navigate the treacherous waters in rowboats.
