Five new tracks confirmed for iRacing development (2024)

When you have four quarterly content drops that you absolutely must have fresh ideas for each time, work never stops.

iRacing has discussed the main changes and new content for its imminent Season 4 2024 update, but at the same time, covered what else it is working on for release further down the line.

Six tracks are specifically discussed, although Thruxton was previously announced back in May 2024 and reaffirmed recently.

Expected iRacing circuits

  • Thruxton
  • Croft
  • The Bend Motorsport Park
  • Circuit Ricardo Tormo (Valencia)
  • Adelaide Street Circuit
  • Huset’s Speedway
  • Updated NASCAR venues

After Cadwell Park and (hopefully) a remade Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps are released at the start of September, the focus switched to what else is in the pipeline.

It has previously been announced that British venue Thruxton is in active development, and iRacing has confirmed that this is its next priority.

However, it has also scanned Northern venue Croft – which had been a mysterious ‘third UK venue’ that the company recently visited to capture data from.

Perhaps best known for hosting the British Touring Car Championship each season, the tricky circuit has only ever been seen officially in rFactor 2 until now – in terms of current sim racing platforms.

It has also mentioned Valencia, also known as the Circuit Ricardo Tormo as being under ‘contract’. The platform currently has several Spanish venues, but this is the last major venue missing from the list.

The Bend Motorsport Park (featured image) is now also on the list of ‘in development’ circuits. The South Australian venue has previously been used for rounds of the Supercars championship (more about that, below) and was completed in 2018.

It is built to FIA standards, which means a long frontstretch and plentiful runoff areas. However, it also features some undulation, at least on certain corners, and multiple (10) layout options. The longest is a gnarly 7.770 km, or 4.828 miles, in length.

In November, iRacing plans to capture data from the Adelaide Street Circuit. The Adelaide 500 event, part of the Supercars calendar, runs 16th-17th November 2024, as it happens. A version of the street track has previously held Formula 1, the last grand prix there taking place in 1995.

Since then, it is perhaps best known for the 500km (two 250km races) event for the V8 touring cars. Following the 2020 round, the venue went on a hiatus, only to be revived in 2022.

A scan in November does not guarantee a quick release – New Zealand venue Pukekohe Park was announced in 2022 as being part of iRacing’s development slate and is still absent.

An image of 3/8 dirt oval track Huset’s Speedway in a work-in-progress state has also been issued – it will be recreated with the World of Outlaws series in mind, for both the main PC simulation and the upcoming console game, World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24.

Assen too, maybe

Finally, Senior VP and Executive Producer Greg Hill has issued a call to arms for the owners of The Netherlands Assen venue, stating that it is “having trouble getting a response” and “several” NASCAR venues have been revisited to capture fresh data.

This would be again for iRacing, but also a console game, this time NASCAR 25.

A line about “discussions” about as US Formula 1 venue was removed from Hill’s post.

The development update concluded with a vague “dirt road content is being actively developed” statement.

Update: “I am in touch with TT Circuit Assen now. Nice work community,” posted iRacing’s Executive Vice President to X.

“I will start leaning into this method some more in the future when I hit a wall!!!”

Expected iRacing cars

  • Chevrolet Camaro Gen3 Supercars
  • Ford Mustang Gen3 Supercars
  • Legends car overhaul
  • Gen 4 stock car (2025)
  • ARCA update (2025)
  • ‘New’ dirt road and GT3 cars

Australia’s Supercars series nearly received its Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang models for Season 4, but “[we] need a bit more time to implement the data we’ve received from our partners,” said iRacing.

For oval fans, in 2025 there will be a ‘proper’ Gen 4 car release, the 2023 Cup cars scanned back in May, plus a “revisit” to the ARCA category.

Much like the new ‘dirt road content’, new ‘dirt road cars’ are anticipated, alongside ‘multiple’ GT3 cars.

The service has been up to speed with GT3 cars of late, adding the latest Mustang and Corvette earlier this year and the McLaren 720S Evo GT3 in Season 4.

That doesn’t leave much wiggle room for more, but the M4 GT3 has also recently received an ‘Evo’ update, as has the Lamborghini Huracan (Evo 2). Both are present in iRacing presently but in older specs.

Then there is the venerable Acura NSX and Lexus RC F missing, alongside the recently updated Aston Martin Vantage Evo. None of these are confirmed, but perhaps provide an idea of what to expect.

Finally, the Legends car will receive a significant overhaul, thanks to updated data. It will also be reconfigured to work well on both ovals and road courses.
